Viking diorama around Yggdrasil for 28mm miniatures display ( a creative process )
So here's the creative process behind the crafting of my viking diorama, revolving around Yggdrasil.
This is a diorama meant for my 28 mm miniatures to be displayed in a Norse themed displaycase.
This is the first stage of a big 5 floors Diorama for miniature display.
I am currently working on the first floor that will sit underneath.

    Why did you take the effort to do toothpicks on both sides of the walk wall if one is going to go against the vertical logs of the palisade so they won't be visible?

    There were several reasons why they didn't have a hole in the roof. Firstly it was a lot warmer. Secondly, the roof was high enough not to worry about catching fire and as already noted the oxygen level at the top of the roof was low, decreasing any risk of fire. Thirdly the smoke seeped out of the roof virtually all the way round deterring fleas, lice, bed bugs etc. Fourthly, outside animals, mice and birds would not want to nest in the roof or keep stealing the straw to take to other places! However it was not very healthy for the human inhabitants as a lot of the smoke was inhaled leading to lung and breathing problems!

    Just looking at these has given me ideas of how to make the basket (the bigger, barrel shape one). I am doing it in 1:18th scale so it isn't quite so stressful to make, on both my eyesight and too big fingers which seem to have sustained some craft knife damage as they are sore so I need to be mindful while wielding scalpels!

  • @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws
    @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws 11 месяцев назад

    This looks brilliant, I will try to incorporate this in my eventual diorama, especially for animal shelters.

  • @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws
    @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws 11 месяцев назад

    These are brilliant and I will probably try to use some of your ideas in 1;18th scale.

    I love the thatching! I tried to make burlap fringe edge by hot gluing a strip and taking out the long parallel threads. (I've done the same while sewing.) But mine was so sparse. Your version is soooo much better! Thank you for sharing!

    • @LandvaettrsLair
      @LandvaettrsLair Год назад

      Thanks for the feedback! I can see what you mean with the burlap edge. This technique with the cord is defently cheap and looks good. If you want easier you can try to buy a cheap faux-fur/ bathrug that looks thin enough and cut straps. A tad more expensive but easier
